Instead of battling traffic on a cold and foggy night to watch someone else set off fireworks, everyone in the Bay Area had their own display back in the day. They came in colorful boxes, sold by smiling children in Cub Scout uniforms, with awesome names like Pyro Power Master Force Cone and American Spirit Super Eagle Fountain.
Click here for the full article, a rather amusing plea from a writer in CA just to get "Safe and Sane" fireworks legalized where they live. CA is a SnS only state, but it seems most cities ban even that, a big change from OR, where Portland allows it in the city limits. Anyway, I've been in Seattle the last few days. WA allows all fireworks but rockets and firecrackers, Seattle has a full ban in the city, but I've heard and seen a lot going off in the last couple days I've been here. I'll return to Portland on the 8th and post of my adventures. July 2nd in Portland was my little fountain show, which was rather amusing. July 3rd I shot small backyard 1.4g show that went pretty well. July 4th (last night) I went down to Lake Union for the big city show, which was pretty good.
